Our Niche
|
MATRIX45
occupies a special
niche in the healthcare consulting and science sector. We focus
on building the evidence bases needed for informed strategic planning
and decision-making. Our emphasis is on providing value-added
services - putting our brains to work to the knowledge benefit of our
clients.
Core to our work is the recognition, by
clients and by us, that an evidence-based approach is key to examining issues and developing solutions: either by generating new
data, using existing data, or synthesizing various data or knowledge sources.

Our Clients
|
Our
home page outlines our key client groups and
some of the strategic areas in which we
can help.
On the corporate end,
MATRIX45
serves pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, manufacturers of
diagnostic and medical devices, and contract research organizations (CROs).
On the not-for-profit end, we work with research groups, universities, and
healthcare providers.
Each of these client groups faces its own
challenges and opportunities in evidence-based development and
decision-making. The issues are different from one sector to
another. However, these
sectors' shared commitment to evidence enables
MATRIX45
to apply the core tools of evidence-based practice and management while
also custom-tailoring services and solutions to specific determinants,
processes, and contexts of each of our client sectors.
How do we see our
various consulting and development/support services benefiting our
clients?

In addition, we
recently added healthcare litigation support to our services. This
extends our reach for evidence-based expertise to those representing
plaintiffs or defendants, as well as risk managers.

Our Principles |
At
MATRIX45,
our mission is to serve with
creativity, expertise, dedication, and responsiveness the various
healthcare sectors that develop or use scientific evidence for the
purpose of clinical progress or strategic advantage.
At
MATRIX45
you will find an unrelenting drive for
quality and integrity. To this end, we have adopted client- and
project-centric methods of planning, implementing, and evaluating our
work. We focus on analyzing and solving the business issues of our
clients. We want to be more than vendors of services.
Instead, we strive to forge partnerships that address the business
issues at hand - but also embed knowledge and expertise in our client's
organizations. To us, quality is more than client satisfaction.
Our goal is to exceed our clients' expectations in terms of value,
innovation, responsiveness, and change. We believe in the concept
of learning organizations, yours and ours: knowledgeable, experienced,
inventive - nimble, agile, innovative - intuitive, inquisitive,
evidence-based. We think out-of-the-box and aim to broaden and
extend horizons, but pragmatically so. We are accountable to our
clients: for the work done, for the work's relevance, and for the value
delivered. We use service-based pricing, not level-based pricing.
Our accounting is transparent.
A word about confidentiality ...
At
MATRIX45,
confidentiality is both a principle and a
method. We adhere to it - and we do it: due diligence,
contractual agreements, firewalls, ... We demand confidentiality
of our staff, collaborators, and subcontractors - at a zero tolerance
level. Though we may disclose the corporate names of our
clients, we will not disclose the nature of the work -- unless so
authorized by you or if it is in the public domain (the examples of past
work on this website are drawn from the principals' careers in
consulting and science and are in the public domain).

"White Paper" Program |
At
MATRIX45,
we continuously stay
abreast on advances in healthcare research and the various client
sectors we serve. We are a learning organization.
In 2005, we are
launching a "White Paper" program focused on the various client sectors
that we serve. Each white paper will analyze trends and
developments in our client sectors and how they may impact on, or
benefit from, an evidence-based approach.
The first White Paper,
currently in progress, aims to bring structure and strategic direction
to the post-marketing phase 4 and phase 5 period of a drug's lifecycle.
It is based on a senior management seminar we have been asked to give
several times now - and the time is ripe to bundle the ideas for the
benefit of the biopharma industry at large.
Every White Paper
release will be announced in our News section and
published in our Publications section.

Project Returns |
A client's decision
to work with companies like ours is an investment and puts capital
at risk. Clients may be reluctant to work with a small
and/or young organization. We owe you the necessary assurances
about
MATRIX45.
Transparency is a mandate to us, not a
desired principle. Our estimates and accounts are open. We
work with each client on developing mutually acceptable project
accounting methods. We answer all questions - with due
confidentiality provisions.
At
MATRIX45,
we believe we have a responsibility to helping our clients estimate the
value and returns on their project commitments.
Return-on-investment calculations may be helpful, but only if they are
based on mutually shared assumptions and models. We would be glad
to work with your finance team to develop ROI models.
Especially to our biopharma, diagnostics,
and medical device clients, we offer metrics
for studies that examine "real world" use of drugs and devices and the
associated outcomes. We can estimate returns under different
assumptions of scope, cost, and patient compliance - again, in
collaboration with your finance team.
Literally and figuratively, we
want to earn our clients' trust.
